This November newsletter emphasizes the importance of finding peace in routine and taking things one step at a time. Give yourself grace and be realistic about your current lifestyle. PS: I’m adding a podcast for Of Love and Light!
This month, I paused to revisit my overarching goals. By using the 12-week year concept, I am able to find 3 areas of focus.
Summer is here. I always find the season so freeing. I plan to ease in to the season with slow weekends and intentional rest. What are your summer plans?
At 25, I’m still left thinking, who am I? How do I want to show up daily? I am slowly figuring out how I want to show up in the world. I want to reflect love and light in all aspects of my life. Every day I want to be my best self.
January 1st always feels like a fresh start, the turn of the page to a new chapter. So much can happen in one year. I encourage you to reflect on the accomplishments, challenges, and events in 2022. When planning for the new year, consider vision first.
As we approach the new year, I have a renewed focus on organization. The time has come for me to reread (or listen to) Atomic Habits and The Twelve Week Year. Whenever you are ready, here are a few things you can do before the year ends. There’s no pressure, just a few ideas. I always find myself scrambling trying to set the stage for the new year... but hey, proactivity here.
I underestimated the impact adding school would have on my daily life. In no way I thought it would be easy, but I did think it would be a quick adjustment. There was a cycle of work, school, homework, cleaning my apartment, and figuring out what to eat. Rinse and repeat.
Let July be July | Let August be August. The premature anticipation of the end prevents enjoyment of the present.
A week before the month started, I was in desperate need of a reset. I sent a text to a friend saying, “can I just get to inbox zero… on my life.” I felt all over the place with the usual busyness of summer. Here’s what I did to reset with limited time: Ditched “I’ll do it later”, took baby steps, and scheduled routines with grace.
A quick book review of the 12 Week Year and real-time application. The principles of this book boil down to vision, planning, and follow-through. I applied this concept to my own life by creating a detailed vision, plan, and steps to ensure I reach my goals. Join me as I implement this concept.
Through all of this change, you are resilient. You did adapt. Two years later, with all of the opposition you faced, you're still here. We lived through a constant reminder of death and mortality. We lived through isolation and redefining community. We are living through love and gratitude. And, with God's grace, we are still here with breath in our lungs and a mind that can reason.
“A meaningful life isn't how often you can saturate your senses, but how you grow to think of even the simplest, most unassuming daily things... Do the things that are effortless. Let them be effortless. Find love that's effortless.” - Brianna Wiest
I began to think, what I gave my all to God like I would support a football team? What I repped God as much as I do other teams? The impact would be transformational.
Many people agree that journaling is life-changing! I want to use it to my benefit to ground myself instead of devoting energy to worry. I’ll give you 3 prompts to journal about this week for moments of uncertainty.
What does making changes actually look like? Doing the work is unlearning the negative traits that are engrained in our behavior to become the best versions of ourselves.
There’s a fine line between inspiration and imitation. I’ve come to the conclusion I want to show up as my most authentic self in everything that I do. Let’s stop the action of copy & paste.
I am currently feeling neither good nor bad, just somewhere in the middle. Finishing this newsletter today was more for me than it was for you. Make a commitment to yourself.
The overall vision is to live a healthy and happy life in accordance with God's will. I don't want to base my standards on what others are doing, though sometimes I am easily influenced. It's always hard because I am inundated with images from advertising, social media, and tv shows showing me how life "should" be lived. How will you show up for yourself daily?
Culture has definitely shifted to prioritize a "self-made" mindset, with people quickly glorifying what they think they've created. However, it's easy for any of us to get caught up doing that. Something small can make a lasting impact. Be careful about concepts that do not align with your values, regardless of how popular it is.
Inspired by Morgan Harper Nicoles podcast, I reflected on the action of remembering. There are so many small moments I’ve taken for granted by moving on too quickly. These small moments are actually important and shape or lives.
This past week I took a look at Luke chapter 6. The last two verses reminded me why I was striving to build a foundation and the season of Lent is a great time to build healthy habits. Why Sacrifice? Sacrificing can show us the places where we give the most value.
The "truth" can be varied by perspective, but it takes accountability to address faults, gain a comprehensive understanding, and shape the future. We have to uncover the truth regardless of how difficult those conversations may be. How can we learn without them?
New month, new goals? ...Not quite. This year I want to be more intentional in checking in with myself at the beginning of each month. I want to spend time looking back at January and making priorities for the next.
We could all benefit from the space to try even if the result isn't attractive. This week, I was reminded to give myself the grace to just try without pressure to be perfect. We will never be perfect!
As we approach the new year, I'm adopting a thoughtful planning process inspired by principles from books like the "12-Week Year" and "Atomic Habits." This involves setting ambitious goals aligned with my life's vision and breaking them down into tangible milestones. Before setting goals, I recommend reflecting on thriving elements, aspirations, and desired feelings a year from today. The planning involves moving goals into quarters, prioritizing 1-3 key objectives per quarter, and staying flexible.
