Looking into September

I started September literally hitting the ground running.  I moved from a studio to a one-bedroom in the same apartment building over a span of three days. I was nervous when I signed the lease to the new apartment because I fell in love with a one-bedroom in the unit next to me. I liked the side I was facing and the amount of light that streamed through my windows. I didn’t think anything could compare to what I saw. I was going in with no way of checking for any problem if the new room presented any. When I got the keys to my new space, my expectations were exceeded. My windows filled the entire wall, a total of 7 windows (nothing compared to the 2 I was holding on to) and the size was also almost double the size of my old room. My move (though very small) was done with ease and I’m proud of myself for making it happen. It was also a goal of mine for 2020!

Like August, September brings a new beginning, but in a different way. I’ll be starting a program sponsored by the City’s Planning Department. I’ve begun fostering new professional relationships. I have a brand new space to decorate. Last month I had to place confidence in my personal project and this month I’ll have to place confidence in my professional projects.

I started writing this sitting in Washington Square Park at dusk. The sunset turned the sky a beautiful purple-pink gradient. All of the couples, families, and friends filled the park with a joyous aura. I wondered if this place would have the same energy without quarantine. Either way, I was just happy to be there.

The beautiful sunset I tried to capture.
